Standard First Aid (Level A)

Standard First Aid (Level A) is a course designed to provide individuals with the knowledge and skills necessary to respond to basic medical emergencies. The course covers essential topics such as CPR, choking, and bleeding control, and participants receive certification valid for three years.

About SFA Level A

Acquire the knowledge and skills to provide immediate emergency care to an injured person with our comprehensive two-day course. You’ll learn first aid and cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) techniques, which are essential for helping those in need. This course, certified by the Canadian Red Cross, is designed to meet the legal requirements of provincial/territorial worker safety and insurance boards. It covers the latest first aid and CPR guidelines. Upon completing the course, you will receive a valid Certificate of Completion, which is recognized for three years. This comprehensive 16-hour course is required by WSIB for workplaces with six or more employees. It is highly recommended for employees in manufacturing, construction, and skilled trades, as well as youth organizations operating in urban areas, and members of the general public seeking a deeper understanding of urban first aid beyond the scope of the Emergency First Aid course.

CPR Options:

Level A CPR includes Adult CPR and AED only This course meets or exceeds WSIB requirements for workplace First Aid Training and leads to Red Cross certification, valid for 3 years.

Notes:

  • Understand and successfully demonstrate all required skills

  • 75% minimum passing grade on a written, closed book knowledge evaluation
  • Adherence to the Red Cross’s Fundamental Principles
  • Students must be on time and present for all course content instruction. Students who miss any course content cannot be certified and registration fees will not be reimbursed, as per the Cancellation Policy

Number of Hours: 13 hours in-class* OR 7 hours in-class* + 8 hours online learning
