WHAT IS A BLENDED LEARNING FIRST AID COURSE?
Blended learning refers to a teaching approach that incorporates both traditional in-person classroom instruction and online learning. The online component is usually used to deliver theory and information to learners, freeing up classroom time for hands-on skill development and practical application of the material. In the context of Red Cross First Aid courses, the blended learning model involves a self-paced online session completed prior to an in-person skills session led by a Red Cross First Aid Instructor.
WHAT CAN A BLENDED LEARNING FIRST AID COURSE DO FOR MY WORKPLACE?
Ensuring compliance with provincial/territorial workplace insurance requirements comes with several expenses, and one of the biggest challenges is arranging employee training without disrupting business operations. However, blended learning delivery can save more than eight hours of business downtime per employee!
Traditional training methods require employees to attend a two-day Standard First Aid Course, which often needs to be staggered to minimize business disruptions. However, rescheduling even a part of an employee’s work time can be challenging. Blended learning for first aid provides a more flexible and appealing alternative.
With blended learning, employees can complete a portion of the training on their own time and at their own pace, over a period of four weeks. This allows them to fit in the online component of the course when it is convenient for them, even if it is just an hour here or there. The one-day, in-person skills session and knowledge evaluation are the only mandatory requirements for completing the course and obtaining certification, making it easy to accommodate even the busiest schedules.
